Throneless Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

We've been jamming and taking things kind of slow.

2.You have a new album coming out in 2018, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Soundwise the album is more melancholic than our previous release and has more of a bitter touch to it.
We've also tried to mix things up a bit, but still staying heavy and repetative.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

We learn from history that we never learn from history"

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name "Throneless'?

There isn't a throne.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance/

We often fuse our songs together as one long ongoing piece when we play live. This way the audience gets a chance to really sink into the music.

Usually the soundguy working at gigs goes " No way! Turn it down now! This isn't possible!" However, when we played in Berlin the soundguy went "JAAAA!". That night was one of our best ones for sure.
Also playing Rome (Heavy Psych Fest) and Babel (in our hometown Malmoe) with Conan was a great experience.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

We've got a setlist ready and should be back on the road soon.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of stoner, sludge and doom metal?

It's been overwhelming! The response has been really good. We're truly grateful that people listen to our music and we enjoy playing it.

8.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Johan and Johan are currently working on a new project with guitarplayer Magnus (Satanic Surfers) and Mona (Vile Act) on Bass. Johan Burman also plays drums in the melodic Death/Black band Oberion.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Heavier and slower.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening t nowadays?

Electric Wizard's "Dopethrone" has definitely scarred us all, that's pretty much the start for us.
In Malmoe, we have a good Hardcore/Punk scene that's been giving us alot of great inspiring shows to attend.
Bandwise we also want to mention HÃ¥rda Tider and Suma from Malmoe. Boris and Entombed have also been important for all of us.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

We've know eachother for years before starting to play music together, all through skateboarding.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

We like to express our gratitude to the people in Malmoe that's helped us from the start.

Now we begin a new chapter in our career. That wouldn't be possible without Jon Davis and Black Bow Rercords.
We're excited and grateful over the oppertunity to work with Jon and the crew at BB.

Last and certainly not least, we want to thank all the people that's been supporting us and heavy music!
